"Do one thing every day that scares you."
- Eleanor Roosevelt

One day, it clicked.  I was sitting on a bench when four girls gathered in front of me. Throwing their arms around each other, they laughed and small talked while another girl stretched out her arm and snapped a photo with the gorgeous trees behind them providing the backdrop.  Crowding around the phone, three of the girls gave their approval and the fourth girl tapped away.  And then, they walked away. In different directions.
I'm not sure which is harder to believe, four girls all okaying one photo without retakes or that they weren't really hanging out at all but leading the online world to believe so (I'm going with not taking the retakes, and if I didn't see it with my own two eyes I wouldn't believe it either.)

We share so much with social media, but is any of it real?  The right nail color,  the right pair of shoes, and in some cases, the right pair of boobs.  We obsess over it, dedicating countless Pinterest boards to the perfect "in" style.  I've pinned my fair share of hairstyles I ultimately failed at recreating.

I'm tired of failing and focusing my energy on perfecting outward things that will most likely change before I get the hang of it.  There's nothing wrong with outward beauty but if we are dedicating so much time to curling our hair, then who's cultivating our soul?  The right lipstick isn't going to make me a stronger loving woman.

I'm not perfect.  I don't really know what I'm talking about.  I love social media and the advice it's dolled out to me throughout the years, but this is my journey on a new "lifestyle" blog, one that's not centered around what I'm wearing or how I'm wearing it, but what I'm doing to change tomorrow. It's a win-win.  I can't fail.
