Quotes That Inspire Me

Monday, June 13, 2016

I have to admit I snagged this idea from Graceful Coffee (she's a genius!).  I'm a quote-aholic.  I actually have my own Tumblr page full of quotes from books I read that have moved me.  Fun fact: my Tumblr is named after a quote from The Picture of Dorian Gray.  I briefly flirted with having the quote tattooed on my hip.

I really like quotes but what I enjoy more is discovering my own quotes.  Too often, I think we pin quotes on Pinterest or come across them on some Internet site and we don't understand the true meaning behind the words.  More often than not, you find out the quote isn't real or is attributed to the wrong person (like when I named this blog!).  So, all of my quotes are certified because I read them, fell in love with the words, and jotted them down.

Listed below are some quotes that truly inspire me and ring through my head whenever I need them.

It's On Me

Thursday, June 9, 2016

I wrote the following on April 13th and then sat on it for so long because it's a massive piece of me I don't share with many people.  I thought it was something I wrote just to get my frustrations out.  I'm not even very happy with how it's written; there's so much more I want to say but just can't seem to formulate the right words.  And then this piece came out by Brock Turner's victim. I realized, my silence only gives the perpetrators of sexual assault a leg to stand on.  So, here's my chance to throw my voice into the conversation.
