How To Make Him Fall In Love With You

Tuesday, May 31, 2016

All right ladies, I've scoured Pinterest and Cosmo and all of those other outlets we utilize to secure the way to arouse his undying love for us and bind him to our sides for eternity.  Article after article telling me how to dress, what perfume to wear, which giggle to use at which time.  Don't play hard to get.  Play hard to get.  Answer your phone when he calls, but not too often.  Text back immediately or just stare at your phone, waiting for an allowable amount of time to pass to make it look like you have an uber busy lifestyle.  This creates the illusion you are interesting. Never talk about your pooping schedule.

Happy 1 Year Anniversary to Decorate The Soul!

Sunday, May 29, 2016

One year ago I finally got the guts to publish my first blog post!  This was quickly followed by radio silence on my end until August when I started to semi-regularly update.  One whole year and it's amazing the friends I've made by being brave enough to put myself out there.  One whole year of forcing myself to write.  It's been awful.  It's been magical.

On that first day, I chose to use an Eleanor Roosevelt quote that tumbled in my head for years. I painted it on canvases, plastered it on coasters.  Today though, I think it would be fitting to provide the quote that inspired the name of this blog.  I found it on Pinterest, misquoted of course, and attributed to Jorge Luis Borges.  The quote actually comes from the poem "After A While" by Veronica Shoffstall:

So you plant your own garden
And decorate your own soul
Instead of waiting for someone
To bring you flowers.

I have so many exciting ideas for this next coming year and hope to meet some of you as you (begrudgingly) tag along as I try to decorate my own soul.

Ten Things NOT On My Bucket List

Tuesday, May 24, 2016

I'm genuinely inspired when I see other people's Bucket Lists.  For some reason though, when it comes to jotting down what I possibly-maybe-truly-really, really want to do, I draw blanks.  It's always been far easier for me to identify what I don't want to do.  I know I should create a Bucket List and start setting goals, but until then here's my Anti-Bucket List.

An Interview with My Dad

Monday, May 2, 2016

My dad's heart is massive. He will never let on how big it is.  It doesn't take much to make him smile.  He wants to be everyone's friend and his biggest fault is that he wants to fix everything for everyone.

I got this idea of interviewing the people in my life to see what new tidbits I could unearth.  I decided to start with my Dad because, in all honesty, I knew he would make me laugh the hardest.
