This was actually a really fun one. I dove into my Goodreads Read Shelf and revisited some of my favorite villains I've ever encountered in literature. Some of them are pure evil, some are comical, and some have redeeming qualities but a good villain pushes the plot along and keeps the reader's eyes glued to the page. These guys? Yeah, they definitely achieved that.
1. Lord Voldemort - Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
2. Richard Nixon - All the President's Men by Carl Bernstein & Bob Woodward
3. Quentin P. - Zombie by Joyce Carol Oates
4. Alec D'Urberville - Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy
5. Nils Bjurman - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson
6. Captain Hook - Peter Pan by JM Barrie
7. Humbert Humbert - Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
8. Prince Humperdinck - The Princess Bride by William Goldman
9. Nurse Ratched - One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
10. Commander Fred - The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
Great list! Voldemort is definitely a memorable villain. And I actually find myself feeling a bit sorry for Captain Hook, there's something almost sad about his character in the original play.
ReplyDeleteOh what a fab list (and not full of the ones we 'should' know). Nurse Rached... Commander Fred... Oh the complications! I loved this list :) Awesome as always Jen!
